Search Callahan County Inmate Records

Callahan County inmate records start with the local jail roster, then branch into court, prison, federal, and notification systems when a person is released, transferred, sentenced, or held outside the county jail. A Callahan County jail roster search can show current custody, booking facts, charges, bond, and basic identifying details for people booked through local agencies. The same search does not cover every past booking or every sentenced inmate in Texas, so a complete lookup may require the sheriff's office, public records request channels, VINELink, the state prison locator, and federal or immigration custody tools.

Official Callahan County Jail Roster

The official Callahan County jail roster is the Kologik Public Jail Roster linked from the Callahan County Sheriff's Office page as the Local Arrest Report. The roster uses agency ORI TX0300000, and a Kologik agency endpoint returned the name CALLAHAN COSO. No login or payment was observed for the public roster. The page is a JavaScript app, so a blank shell or app warning usually means the browser must allow JavaScript or use a current device.

The roster is best for current local jail custody, recent bookings, and people arrested by the sheriff's office, Clyde Police Department, DPS, or another local agency that books through Callahan County. The inspected Kologik endpoint returned a recent Clyde PD arrest, which confirms that city-police arrests can appear in the county sheriff roster. Callahan County has a small local jail, and Texas Commission on Jail Standards reports show many Callahan inmates housed elsewhere. That makes the roster the first check, not the only check.

The Kologik Public Jail Roster for Callahan County shows the search and filter interface used for the Local Arrest Report.

The roster screenshot is useful because the real controls are simple: recent bookings, all names, A to Z letters, a name filter, and an order-by menu.

Use the Callahan County Roster

Start with the online roster when the person may be in county jail custody now. The Kologik app does not show a separate profile-click workflow in the inspected code; the booking card itself is the public profile. It can show the photo, name, arrest date, days jailed, demographics, arresting agency, charges, warrant numbers, and bond amounts on one card.

  1. Open the sheriff-linked Kologik roster and wait for the app to load.
  2. Use Recent Bookings if the arrest may have happened today or the name is not certain.
  3. Type part of the last, first, or middle name in Name Filter. The app filters names after converting them to uppercase.
  4. Try All or a starting-letter button if the filter gives no result.
  5. Use Order By to sort shortest or longest in jail when scanning several names.
  6. Read the booking card for charge, bond, warrant, arresting agency, and custody clues.
  7. If the person is absent, check release, housed-elsewhere, TDCJ, BOP, ICE, VINELink, and sheriff records-request channels.

Callahan's public interface was observed in current-history mode only. Kologik code supports past-five-day and past-ten-day history for some agencies, but the Callahan endpoint returned a setting that did not show history mode. For released people, the app code includes a notice that charges are not available for released people. That is why older Callahan County inmate records may require a Texas Public Information Act request instead of a roster search.

Callahan County Roster Fields

The roster search fields are narrow and practical. A reader does not need a booking number to start. Name and letter filters do most of the work, while Recent Bookings helps when the person was just booked or the spelling is uncertain.

Field LabelTypeRequiredOptions / Format Notes
Name FilterText inputOptional or unspecifiedFilters by last, first, or middle name when the typed value appears in the name.
Order ByDropdownOptionalBlank/default, Shortest in Jail, or Longest in Jail. Sorting uses days in jail.
HistoryDropdownNot shown for CallahanKologik supports current, past 5 days, and past 10 days for some agencies, but Callahan history mode was not active.
Recent BookingsButton/filterOptionalLoads recent bookings and is useful for new arrests.
AllButton/filterOptionalLoads all current names available through the public roster.
A to ZButton/filterOptionalFilters by first letter using individual alphabet buttons.

There was no separate search or reset button in the observed Callahan roster. The app filters live and the letter buttons call the roster endpoint. If results do not appear, test a shorter name part, use All, or phone the jail because a person may be released, newly booked but not posted yet, or held elsewhere under Callahan County responsibility.

Read Callahan County Inmate Records

A Callahan County inmate record in Kologik is a booking card, not a full court case file. It shows jail-stage information gathered at intake and charge entry. Formal court charges, filings, settings, and dispositions may later differ after prosecutor review. For court records after booking, use the clerks and court portals rather than treating the jail card as the last word.

FieldWhat It Shows
Photo / mugshotPublic photo area is enabled because the hide-photo parameter returned N. A failed image may show a placeholder.
NameLast, first, middle, and suffix in uppercase when available.
ArrestedArrest date and time in month/day/year and time format.
Days jailedNumber of days in jail as calculated by the app.
DemographicsRace, sex, birth year or age, height, weight, eye color, and hair color codes.
Arresting agencyThe agency that made the arrest, such as Clyde PD in the inspected sample.
ChargesCharge code and charge text or legacy text in a public charge table.
BondPer-charge bond amount, with No Bond shown when the amount is zero.
Warrant numberA warrant number tied to a charge when one is present.
Release statusA release date field can mark release, but Callahan public history browsing was not active during research.

Some data fields exist in the JSON but may be blank on a public card. The inspected record had blank court date, court time, public address, and cell number values. Do not assume a blank field means no court date, no housing assignment, or no address in the internal jail system. It means the public roster did not show that value for the inspected record.

When Callahan Inmates Are Missing

A missing name does not always mean the person was never arrested. Callahan County's TCJS data shows a 10-bed rated local capacity and a larger housed-elsewhere count in recent reports. On June 1, 2026, TCJS listed 6 total local, contract, and federal jail population for Callahan and 15 housed elsewhere. On May 1, 2026, the housed-elsewhere count was 25 while the local count was 4. A person may be a Callahan County inmate while physically held in another Texas jail.

Important: Ask the jail whether the person is physically in Baird, housed elsewhere, released, or transferred before making a trip.

Use the sheriff's 24-hour non-emergency number for current custody questions that the web roster cannot answer. The sheriff page lists 325.854.1444 and 432 Market Street in Baird. The county contact directory also lists the Sheriff's Office at 116 W 5th Street and 325-854-5700. Phrase the question clearly: give the full name, birth year if known, arrest date, arresting agency, and any charge or warrant number from the roster.

Callahan County Lookup Channels

The best search path depends on custody type. County jail records cover local pretrial and short-sentence custody. TDCJ covers sentenced Texas prison custody. BOP covers federal inmates. ICE ODLS covers immigration detention. VINELink is a notification and custody-status tool, not a mugshot gallery or a full booking archive.

Callahan County did not have an official sheriff mobile app in the research sweep. No app-only roster, warrant search, most-wanted tool, or tip feature was found on the sheriff page or in app-store checks. Use the web roster, official phone number, VINELink, and JailATM links instead of a third-party app that only appears to be nearby or generic.

State and Federal Inmate Records

Texas Department of Criminal Justice records become important after conviction and sentencing. A Callahan arrestee may begin in local booking, appear on the county roster, and later move into TDCJ custody. Once that happens, county JailATM and county visitation information no longer control. TDCJ has its own offender search, visitation plan, mail rules, and trust-fund system.

The TDCJ offender search page is the statewide lookup point for sentenced Texas inmates.

TDCJ offender search for sentenced Callahan County inmates after jail custody

TDCJ search fields commonly include last name, first name, TDCJ number, SID number, gender, and race. It does not replace the Callahan County jail roster for new arrests.

Federal and immigration custody also sit outside the county roster. Callahan County is in the Northern District of Texas, Abilene Division, but no BOP facility or ICE detention center was located in Callahan County. A federal hold, U.S. Marshals transfer, or ICE detainer can change whether local bond leads to release. Use BOP or ICE ODLS when the jail says the person is in federal or immigration custody.

Callahan County Jail Contacts

The sheriff's office is the local access channel when the roster does not answer a custody question. Call before visiting because official sources did not publish lobby hours, a visitor entrance, public parking instructions, or a detailed inmate-records desk schedule. The county home page also notes temporary operations for some county offices during courthouse restoration, so not every county service is at the same public building.

For older records, make a targeted public information request instead of asking for a broad criminal-history search. Ask for the booking sheet, jail register entry, arrest report, booking photo, charge or bond entry, or release date. Include the person's full name, date of birth or age if known, booking date, arresting agency, and warrant or charge number if the roster shows one.

Booking, Bond, and Release Records

Callahan booking records are built during intake. The roster fields show name, demographic descriptors, booking and arrest times, arresting agency, photo, charges, warrant number, and bond by charge. The inspected record had the same booking and arrest time and appeared in recent bookings the same date, but the roster does not publish a fixed refresh schedule. Avoid assuming a specific update delay.

Bond information on the roster is charge-specific. The app displays a dollar amount when a bond exists and No Bond when the amount is zero. A no-bond hold may come from a warrant type, magistrate order, parole or TDCJ hold, immigration/federal hold, or another agency. One hold can block release even when another charge has a payable bond.

Cash bond
Money paid directly to secure release and court appearance.
Surety bond
A licensed bail bond company guarantees the bond after a fee agreement.
PR bond
Personal recognizance release based on a promise to appear and follow conditions.
Detainer
A hold or request from another agency that may prevent local release.

The official Callahan sources did not publish accepted bond payment methods, a bond desk schedule, or after-hours posting rules. Call 325.854.1444 before going to the jail to confirm the amount, posting location, payment method, and whether the person is physically held in Callahan or elsewhere.

Callahan County Jail Visits

Official Callahan sources did not publish a local visitation schedule, video-visitation vendor, mail format, visitor dress code, approved-list process, or attorney-visit schedule. A county-specific page should not fill that gap with generic hours. The practical rule is to call the jail first, confirm the person is still in Callahan custody, then ask for the current visit method and public entrance instructions.

Inmate Funds and Commissary

The sheriff page gives one clear inmate-service instruction: use JailATM to add funds to an inmate's account for phone cards or commissary items. The same official page links the roster and VINELink near the JailATM link, so families can verify custody status before sending funds. The research did not locate Callahan deposit fees, refund rules, accepted payment types, cutoff times, kiosk availability, phone-card prices, or commissary order limits.

The JailATM portal is the sheriff-linked channel for Callahan County inmate account funds.

Use the portal only after confirming the inmate is in the right custody system, since TDCJ inmates use state prison trust-fund rules instead of county JailATM instructions.

VINELink and Records Requests

VINELink is available for Texas and is linked by the Callahan sheriff. Use it for custody-status checks and notification registration, especially when release or transfer timing matters. It is not a complete substitute for the roster, and it does not provide the same booking-card fields, charge table, bond data, or booking-photo view found in Kologik.

The Texas VINELink home page is the custody-status and notification channel linked by the sheriff.

Texas VINELink custody notification channel for Callahan County inmate records

VINELink works best beside the jail roster and sheriff phone line, not in place of them.

For records that are not online, Texas Government Code Chapter 552, the Texas Public Information Act, is the general request path. Ask the sheriff for a specific jail record, not a broad answer about every contact with law enforcement. Booking photos also require care because Texas Code of Criminal Procedure article 2.1396 addresses agency policy and restrictions for requesting and releasing booking photographs. Juvenile records, protected criminal-history information, active investigations, and certain victim or witness details may be withheld or redacted.
